    Trevor Noah will be returning as host of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards it was announced on Wednesday morning.

    However, one big change is the name of the venue which has been home to the award show since 2000 - famously known as the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles -  will called Crypto.com Arena by the January 31, 2022 date.

    Last month, it was announced that there was a new 20-year agreement for the AEG-owned and operated venue, which is home to the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, the NHL's Kings and the WNBA's Sparks, will be effective from Christmas Day, AEG said.

    The Los Angeles Times, citing unidentified sources, reported that the Singapore-based Crypto.com platform paid more than $700 million for the naming rights. Crypto.com was not immediately available for comment though it confirmed the deal in a statement on its website. 

    The 37-year-old host of The Daily Show also served as emcee at this year's event in March earlier this year which utilized an outdoor stage to keep performers and presenters safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The rapper's tenth album Donda is up against Drake's Certified Love Boy.  

    American musician Jon Batiste was the most awarded artist for his album We Are.

    Batiste, 35, is a veteran jazz keyboardist and also the musical director of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

    Both Lil Nas X and Brandi Carlile got an impressive five nominations each, while Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s group Silk Sonic received four.

    Although Taylor Swift only scored just the one nomination, it was in one the biggest categories - Album of the Year - and she previously won in that category last year for Folklore. 

    Best Dance/Electronic Recording was the first category to be announced by Recording Academy Chief Executive Harvey Mason Jr., with nominations including Afrojack, Bonobo and James Blake, on Tuesday morning. 

    For Best Rep Performance, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Megan Thee Stallion were all recognized. 

    Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, Tyler, The Creator, and Kanye West were selected for Best Melodic Rap.

    There were the usual round of perceived 'snubs' too, with artists like Miley Cyrus failing to get a mention anywhere, and BTS only receiving one nomination.

    Also indie rocker Liz Phair and her comeback album Soberish - hailed by music critics - was completely ignored.

    British band Wolf Alice released their third album Blue Weekend to thunderous critical acclaim, but it was left out of all the rock music categories.

    To have been eligible for a nomination this year, a recording will have had to have been released between Sept. 1, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2021.

    That means the likes of British superstar Adele will not be on the list, as she released her comeback single Easy On Me in October. 

    Recording Academy Chief Executive Harvey Mason Jr. and Tammy Hurt, chair of the academy's board of trustees were in attendance for the nominations reveal.  

    The Recording Academy has eliminated nominations review committees this year meaning winners will now be determined by a majority vote from Recording Academy voting members.

    There are famously a long list of categories - 88 to be exact. 

    Two new categories have been included this year: Best Global Music Performance (Global Music Field) and Best Música Urbana Album (Latin Music Field).  

    The music industry's biggest night is scheduled to take place on Jan. 31 in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, which will soon be changing its name.
